Darts checkout chart — Every finish from 170 down to 2

How to read the chart

• T is a treble, D a double and S a single: T20 is 60, D16 is 32, S7 is 7.
• Bull is the bullseye, 50. It counts as a double, so it can finish a leg. The outer bull is 25 and can’t.
• Each route is one visit of up to three darts. Fewer darts is always better: 100 is T20 D20, two darts.
• Miss a dart and the route changes. Look up what you have left and carry on from there.

The bogey numbers

Seven totals under 170 can’t be finished in three darts: 159, 162, 163, 165, 166, 168 and 169. Anything above 170 can’t either. On a bogey number, score to leave a finish for your next visit — on 169, a treble 19 leaves 112, which is T20 S12 D20.

Why players leave D16 and D20

The best doubles to leave are the ones that halve. Miss D16 into the single and you have 16 left — D8. Miss that and you have 8 — D4. One double gives you several more darts at a finish. D20 is the other favourite: it sits at the top of the board, where most of your scoring darts already go.

That is why odd numbers under 40 take a single first: on 31, a single 15 leaves 16 for D8; on 39, a single 7 leaves 32 for D16.

Two-dart finishes over 100

The chart shows the usual three-dart route for 101, 104, 107 and 110, but each can also go out in two darts through the bull: T17 Bull, T18 Bull, T19 Bull and T20 Bull. The bull is a smaller target than D20, so most players keep the bull for 170, 167, 164 and 161, where there is no other way.
