CNO darts — Rules and a free scorer

CNO — Cricket Numbers Only — is fullboard cricket for two players: the usual Cricket numbers plus three targets that reward how you hit. Here is how it works, and a scorer that keeps every mark for you.

CNO in one minute

You play the Cricket targets — 20 down to 15 and the bull — plus three extra targets: Doubles, Triples and Beds. That is ten targets in all.

  • Three marks close a target.
  • Once you have closed a target and your opponent hasn’t, every extra mark scores.
  • Close all ten with a score level with or ahead of your opponent to win.

How each dart counts

One dart can mark its number and one extra target at the same time. In CNO only 15–20 and the bull count — for their own targets and for the extra ones.

DartMarks in CNO
Single 201 on 20
Double 202 on 20, 1 on Doubles
Treble 203 on 20, 1 on Triples
Single bull1 on Bull
Double bull2 on Bull, 1 on Doubles
Double 9, treble 4Nothing — below 15 doesn’t count in CNO

The bull counts toward Doubles (a double bull) but never toward Triples.

Beds: three in a bed

A bed is a whole turn: all three darts in the same number’s wedge. In CNO the number has to be 15–20 or the bull. Three in a bed earns one mark on Beds and counts as three singles on that number — three in the 20 bed is three marks on 20 and one on Beds. If one of the three is a double or a treble, you choose: count the turn as a bed, or the dart toward Doubles or Triples — not both.

Scoring

Points only come from marks beyond the third, and only while your opponent still has that target open. Numbers score their face value — a treble 20 on a 20 you have closed is 60 — and the bull 25 a mark. On Doubles and Triples each extra dart scores what it hit: double 20 is 40, treble 17 is 51. On Beds an extra bed scores its three darts added up: three single 20s is 60, three treble 20s is 180.

An example turn

  1. Treble 20 — three marks on 20 (closed) and one on Triples.
  2. Double 19 — two marks on 19 and one on Doubles.
  3. Single 7 — nothing: 7 isn’t a CNO target.

CNO or Sloppy?

Sloppy plays the same ten targets, but doubles, triples and beds on any number 1–20 count toward the extra targets. CNO keeps them to 15–20 and the bull, so it is the stricter game. Sloppy rules

Cricket Numbers Only: the usual Cricket numbers, 20 down to 15 and the bull, are the only numbers that count.

How do you close Doubles in CNO?

Hit three doubles on 15–20 or the double bull. Each one adds a mark to Doubles, whatever number it lands on.

All three darts of a turn in the same number’s wedge. In CNO it counts on 15–20 and the bull, and earns one mark on Beds.

How do you win CNO?
